Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving time :) Grandpa said the little girls were playing in the bathroom.  Grace and Adi came out smelling like Grandma's lotions, but Miss Emery got in Grandma's lipstick, pretty!

This year we did Thanksgiving with my dad's family at a church in Youngward.  We don't see them all very often and I enjoy getting together with them.  It's crazy how kids grow up when you aren't around.
I was in charge of bringing 2 fruit pies.  I am not a baker so I thought I'll just bake 2 frozen pies and they'll be just fine.  Well guess what, they looked horrible!  This is the first one, and the 2nd one boiled over and sealed the pie tin to the pan.  I had to use a knife and wedge it off the pan, it seriously took 10 minutes.  Well they still tasted fine, but hopefully I get to bring something else next time.

We spent the night up in Hyrum and it was nice to visit with my family and then go shopping in the morning.

In the morning Ryan and Mary brought the girls over and made up biscuit's and gravy, so yummy.

And then Ty and Grace thought they'd be funny and hide in the old Christmas tree box.
I'm so thankful for my family, home, country, the gospel, and friendships!

Primary Children's and 6 months

How is it possible Bennett is 6 months old already?  It just does not seem possible.  10 days before he hit 6 months he proved he was my child and had his first ear infection.  He'd been pulling or digging on his ear but didn't have a fever and was still sleeping just fine so I waited a few days.  Then he got an eye infection and when the doctor was checking him he found double ear infections.  That's my boy - it must be a McBride thing.  When I hear people say their children have never had ear infections I'm like really?  What would that be like.  I just pray he doesn't follow so closely in Max's footsteps.

I can't find his paper with his 6 months stats, but I know he weighed 18lbs 3oz and was in about the 75% for both height and weight and the 30% for head.  The doctor was concerned about his heart murmur this month, he said it sounded louder and bigger or more pronounced and wanted him checked at Primary Children's.  So we did.  I was concerned, but not obsessed. In fact I was pretty proud of how calm I was about the whole thing, Bennett looks like a perfectly healthy kid, he's growing, eating and alert so I wasn't too worried.

We saw Dr. Martin on 11/29 and after an EKG and several blood pressure checks she said Bennett either had a benign heart murmur that deals with the electrical pulses in your heart or a whole in his heart.  So she ordered an ultra sound of his heart.

The ultra sound was really cool to watch.  Bennett was asleep for most of it and it just amazed me how hard a heart has to work.  The ultra sound showed no hole and Dr. Martin said this kind of heart murmur will get louder and more pronounced until he's about 2 or 3, it's nothing to be worried over and we don't need to bring him back up to have it checked.  That was a great feeling.

Every time I go into Primary's I am more thankful for my three healthy children.  I am so grateful for the blessing they are to me!

Bennett got another ear infection about a week after his 6 month check up.  And he's stopped sleeping through the night.  He's decided he's starving in the middle of the night and he's killing his mother!  Not really, but I've been spoiled and miss sleeping through the night baby.

He's eating really well and loves noodles, squash, pumpkin, bread and the only thing that he wouldn't eat was waffles.  It must have been a texture that he couldn't swallow.

He is rolling over like a mad man and pretty much gets anything he wants ;) Oh and I should probably document, although begrudgingly, that Bennett's first word was "dada".  Why?!?   He love's his dad that is for sure, and I really don't care, but for Mike's sake I pretend that I do, it means so much to him.  (Now doesn't that make me sound like wife of the year!)

1st tooth!

One fine day in November Grace was eating pretzels on the couch and said "My tooth is dancing in my mouth."  I checked and sure enough, she had a "dancing" tooth!  Isn't she too little for this?!?
She was so excited, she wiggled it for about 2 weeks and then one morning while I was blow drying her hair she was playing with it with her tongue and out fell the tooth.  No crying, no pain, it was great!

Can you tell she was just slightly excited?  The tooth fairy found her having a camp out the next morning in the living room, and she didn't even think to check under her pillow.

Some More October

I found another October file....so here is October Part 2!

Bennett turned 5 months old.  He's in size 3 diapers, loves to eat rice cereal and baby food.  His favorite is banana's and he makes a funny sound when he eats it, and when it's gone he's sad.  There isn't anything I've given him that he doesn't like.
Food he likes, flashes from the camera scare the day lights out of him!

I don't know what I'd do without this happy little guy.  He's got the sweetest personality!  At 5 month's Bennett rolls with gusto, is sleeping through the night and babbles a lot.  We put away the swing and got out the walker, and he loves it.  Within minutes he was walking around and really enjoys the freedom.
One Saturday morning I came in the living room and Grace had curled up next to him.  I love that she loves him so much!

We also went to the Pumpkin Patch with my family.  I haven't been in probably 10 years, when did they stop carving all the pumpkins?  I didn't like it as much.  Cheaters!  Ok, I understand why, but still I loved seeing the cool carvings.

At Grandma Kate's, getting a hair do!

And we celebrated 7 years, and I came home from church to a nice little surprise.  Mike MAY or may not have skipped Priesthood to surprise me.  He gets bonus points.

One big fat October

We had a busy, fun October!  Here are some of the fun things we did-

We went to the Beck's neighborhood Halloween Carnival.  The kids love this every year, they have tons of games for the kids to play and win prizes.

We tried to take Halloween pictures at Barnes Park

 And at Grandma's House

We went to Mike's family Halloween party at the gym.  The kids did a Halloween costume parade - and am in love with the picture of Max on his stomach, I love his tail.

This year they turned off the lights and gave the kids glow sticks and turned up the music.  The kids loved it it!  They danced and had so much fun.
Grace danced with her Grandpa Todd.
They broke open the pinata and had more candy than anyone needs, before Halloween started.

We decorated Halloween sugar cookies.  I'm amazing, what can I say?
We went to Scary Hill with Mike's parents and Daisy.

 We mini-golfed 9 holes.

And took a wagon ride to see the skeletons, I didn't get any good pictures but they were so fun to see. Our favorites were the skeletons picking cherries and the skeleton who crashed the tractor.  The ones in the RV were fun too.
The kids exhausted themselves in the ball pit.  (I didn't know these existed anymore).  They also had fun in the bounce house.
Grace's school had a Halloween parade, but because it was in the afternoon the morning Kindergarten had their own.  I loved not fighting for parking!

Grace and her good friend Jessica
 Grace's class pulling silly faces
Right before Halloween Max got sick.  Really sick, he had weird burns on his tongue and a high fever.  I was afraid he wouldn't be able to go Trick-or-Treating.  You can tell he doesn't feel good in the pictures, but his fever broke and we took him.  He got really sick again that night, but he wanted to go so bad.

In a nutshell, that was our October!
